In Colorado, auto insurance companies are regulated by the Colorado Division of Insurance, which is a part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). In addition to being responsible for regulating the insurance industry within the state of Colorado, the Colorado Division of Insurance also assists consumers by providing insurance information and helping to manage and resolve complaints that consumers may have against insurance companies. At its core, the Colorado Division of Insurance’s mission is consumer protection.

The Division conducts financial examinations to confirm financial solvency of all insurance companies doing business in the state. In 2008, the Colorado State Congress passed a bill known as HB138 which established the requirement of a Consumer Guide to Insurance on the Web. As part of this guide, the Colorado Division of Insurance created an Automobile Insurance Premiums Report which is now available online through a simple interface. With this online tool a consumer can obtain insurance quote estimates for Colorado auto insurance without entering any personal information that would be shared with any sales people. Please note that the premium rates are based on a a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan with a base level engine.
