The SR-22 is a certificate of auto insurance that needs to be filed by an insurance carrier directly with the state governing body.  SR-22’s are most typically associated with drivers who are convicted of DUI or DWI offenses because these individuals are at significant risk of driving without the proper insurance.  The state will only allow a driver to be legally licensed if they have direct proof, via an SR-22 form, that the driver has insurance.

An SR-22 is a form that proves that you have car insurance. It is required by the state for drivers who are in high risk. And it is mainly to secure the future of those drivers.
