The short answer is that it depends on a few different factors.  First off, how many miles over the speed limit where you traveling?  Some insurance companies won’t penalize you if you’re only ticketed for going 5 miles per hour over the speed limit.  It also depends on what state you are in, as certain states will allow you to take a driving course to keep a speeding ticket off your driving record on that state.  Lastly, your past driving history also has an impact on how your insurance company will raise your rates.  If this is you first ticket in 5-7 years, it may be a much smaller impact that if you’ve already gotten 3 tickets in the past 12 months.
